Glasgow Central
Clicking on the Gallowgate circle goes directly to the urban information pages The AreaThis image shows the location of the selected site within the central area of Glasgow. Today the site (area on red circle) is acting as a border between the city centre (red rectangle) and the east end areas. The red crossing lines shows the original road crossing that originated the expansion and significance of this part of the city, acting as a public space, in contrast to the more religious nature of the areas surrounding Glasgow Cathedral. This area has survived attempts to complete a motorway ring that was to the encircle all central Glasgow, the existing sections of it that are now the M8 motorway (Glasgow-Edinburgh). |
