Drawing Programs
The preparation of images for publishing or promotion purposes has to be done using a different category of programs, drawing applications. This process usually adds a new layer of information normally missing from normal CAD documents. This layer can be emphasized using the painting tools available in the average graphics package. Text, graphics and even hyperlinks can be integrated within the edited image enahncing its communication power. Despite the capabilities of average CAD programs, they do not allow the edition and processing of the images they generate. CAD is not suitable for general drawing, and the constant improvement of drawing packages have blurred the border between CAD and drawing programs. The addition of capabilities such as layering and dimensioning or even data-base linking make recent drawing programs appeal to many markets in which the accuracy and features of CAD are not an issue, and are easily replaced by the ease of use the this programs offer. In relation to the Internet and HTML documents, the post processing of images through this images is still the rule. CAD generated information has to be translated into web-friendly formats, checking its size, resolution and color quality; in order to be used in a HTML document. Applications for CAD publishing on the web are still few, most of them in form of plug-ins (additonal modules for web browsers) or as server applications. |
