Parts strewn everywhere
Empty boxes and ripped packages
Instruction manual at the ready
They eye the carnage on the floor
Parts organized and aligned
Laid out in rows like soldiers
An army massing for an assault
They check the instructions again
Step by step and piece by piece
This connection only finger tight
That one with muttering complaint
They work methodically side by side
Order brought from disarray
Useful whole from separate parts
A pride born of accomplishment
They toast each other with a smile
