All In The Counting

All in the counting
A day made all the more special
By being in a particular year
A decade after a certain other

All in the counting
Her age no longer a single digit
Barely fitting on two full hands
The basis of our number system

All in the counting
She joins the ranks of all of us
Who write our age with two marks
Hoping to one day need a third

All in the counting
Just the right number of candles
Lit carefully each after the other
Then blown out with a secret wish

All in the counting
This birthday the best one ever
Counted down by weeks and days
The hours of it counted too fast
