Across the road one chicken went
To see how life over there was spent
Then two more chickens across they flew
Finding nothing better to do
Three chickens now across did race
Barely able to keep up the pace
Soon four more chickens came a'clucking
Looking for a baby duckling
And when five chickens that road did cross
They voted First Chicken to be The Boss
Came six more chickens to join the fun
Sprinting across in a headlong run
Then seven chickens crossed to see
If they would be in time for tea
Eight chickens more came across soon after
Tired of being alone in the rafters
The next nine chickens arrived quite loudly
Cheering Boss First Chicken very proudly
When more chickens came in a group of ten
Why, First Chicken want back across again!
