Striding purposefully
Down the mountain trail
Striking out on her own
Feet placed confidently
Along the rocky path
Increasing the distance
Between us with every step
Her outline backlit
By the bright sun
Suddenly I can see
Not the little girl
Striding purposefully
Down the mountain trail
But the woman she will become
