When I awakened
I dreamt I was sleeping
Not sure of the border
Between reality and vision
Eyes opening slowly
To the bright light of day
When I awakened
I was sure I still slept
Convinced that the beauty
Which greeted me
Could exist only
Within my dreams
When I awakened
The bonds of sleep
Still called to me
Beckoning me back
To the safety
Of my sweet dreams
When I awakened
Into the fullness
Of the dawning day
My dreams at last
Faded into a dimness
That could not compare
