Train Whistle

Train whistle
Calling in the night
Drifting across the plains
To find me in my darkness

Half inviting, half forlorn
Announcing its arrival
And its departure
Almost at the same time

It beckons me away
To new places and new beginnings
But also reminds me
Of where I am and what I have here

The train will go on
With or without me
Train whistle
Calling in the night
