So yesterday I played some golf with my dad at Firelake Golf Course. The weather here has been kinda crappy lately but yesterday the forcast was like 65 degrees with minimal wind. And my dad is a golf fanatic so this sounded like a good oppportunity to get in some father - son time before I have to go back to school. Well, long story short: the course was super crowded (which slowed things to a crawl.... possibly so slow we were moving backwards). The backup also created a crowd of onlookers each time you actually got a chance to hit the ball. Being "less than perfect" golfers, this made both of us nervous and took away from the fun. Plus to top things off, the course was incredibly muddy. That was no good!
Fortunately, things turned out okay. Dad and I got in some quality time, which was the whole point afterall. We talked a bunch about various things including my plans for getting a job and how Susan and I fit in to these plans. Essentially my dad (and mom both apparently) think that we're a "good fit" and they have (correctly) assumed we've already talked some about the "M" word... :-) |
Speaking of Mom (well I was a little. At least I'm trying to segue...), I decided today would be a good day to try and spend some time with her. So I mustered enough energy to roll out of bed at 6 AM this morning so I could get ready and go to school with her. She teaches Kindergarten so I'm sure having me there to help was appreciated...
So that was an interesting experience. I've gone to help her before, but each time with a new class I never know what to expect. Kids that age can be real fun and cute acting but they can also be little jerks. I'm constantly impressed that my mother manages to control them and even finds time to educate them in between having to scold various troublemakers. |
| Well I'm planning on packing up tomorrow and leaving to go back to school in Chicago Wednesday morning. Its been an absolutely crazy winter break but I've enjoyed the time off from school. Still I think I'm ready to go back and finish things. This should be a good semester. |
