Incoming Adjunct Professor of Creative Writing

This “introductory” reading will include recently published, award-winning original work—poetry: “Moose In Winter,” “One Thing I Like About Jesus,” “February 14th,” and “Epiphany,”—prose: excerpts from “The Essential Existential Lunch” and “Fat Chance and Warren-Bird” and a short question and answer period about the craft of writing.

BRUCE SWEET’S work has appeared in such texts as BLUELINE, COMMONWEAL, LAKE EFFECT, MILKWEED EDITIONS: Contemporary Poems About Music, MINNESOTA MONTHLY, NAPALM HEALTH SPA, YANKEE and in five chapbooks. His recent teaching includes writer-in-residence, Saint John Fisher College (Part-time Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence, 1997–1998) and Writers & Books (Teacher of the Year for Adults, 1997). ARCHAEOLOGY, a volume of poetry, and two chapbooks, A DREAM OF ANIMALS and THIS IS A GOOD THING, are planned for 2004. Sweet’s “WHAT’S THE WORD?” program celebrating local, national and international poets, can be heard on Rochester’s NPR station WXXI 91.5 and 90.3 FM.

Ø    All lectures are free and open to the public. Lectures are presented in the Smith Science Center Auditorium at 4:00pm unless otherwise noted.
