The press that doesn't barkToday Buzzflash links to a blog called
Beggarscanbechoosers,
which makes an interesting
point:
He has violated the Constitution. He has violated his oath of office. He lied America into a disastrous war of aggression that killed 650,000 Iraqi men, women and children. He made the United States the most feared and hated nation on the planet. By contrast, all Bill Clinton did was lie about a blow job. Guess which president our nation's media called upon to resign? And folks, that was all Clinton did. Despite millions of dollars spent on investigations that's all they ever found. Imagine what they would turn up on Bush and his cronies if they were ever subjected to that kind of investigation. Here's a list of newspapers that called for Clinton to resign. The following newspapers appear on the list: The New London Day The Norwich Bulletin The Hartford Courant Personally, I'm against impeaching Bush, but my opposition is on purely political grounds. I know that it would be the Democrats that would be put through a media meat grinder if they attempted to impeach Bush, despite his obvious guilt. But there's no similar political considerations bearing on the media. These papers weren't even calling for mere impeachment, they were demanding a resignation prior to impeachment or trial. So where are they now? Faced with the prospect of two more years of rule by an incompetent war criminal (the worst of both worlds) and his psychopathic puppet master, these same papers are oddly silent. Why was it critical for a competent President to leave office for private immorality when it is, apparently, not at all critical that a man who is systematically destroying his country and the world order should go? And please, I don't want to hear any hair-splitting arguments about Clinton's guilt of a relatively minor crime being obvious. Bush's guilt is obvious to anyone with eyes. In fact, its all laid out here for anyone who really needs convincing. In fact, hasn't he already admitted that he authorized secret detention centers, violations of the Geneva convention, and violations of FISA? I would dearly love to see one of the three papers above explain why is has not called for Bush and Cheney (as co-criminals, they should of course go together) to resign. What is it about our strange country that elevates illicit sex over war crimes (and all the other gross malfeasance of the Bush Administration) in the scale of evil? Inquiring minds would like to know. Posted: Sunday - December 10, 2006 at 07:01 PM |
