Who won the debate, Chapter 1
I just got finished watching the
Lamont-Schlesinger-Lieberman
Debate. Before doing so I read a number of internet reactions from people who
obviously don't have day jobs, so my own opinion is polluted by those of others.
The consensus seems to be that
Schlesinger won, which was really foreordained if you think about it. He was the
one with the least to prove and the most to gain. It was odd that Joe seemed
truly surprised that Schlesinger was attacking him. Did he really expect that
Schlesinger would try to pick off Lamont voters?
Lamont comes in second. Let us all
face it; he is not a good debater. Both Schlesinger and Lieberman are lawyers
and long time politicians; they simply have more experience than him at that
sort of thing. Ned is too dependent on his talking points. He comes in second
because he didn't hurt himself and he wasn't grievously hurt by anyone else.
Most of the fire was directed at
Lieberman.Lieberman loses. He's a
whiner. Does he really think that voters want to hear him incessantly attack
Lamont for attacking him? Most people realize that political candidates attack
each other. He truly is a mendacious
individual, isn't he. Interesting article on Joe's lies here by David Sirota by
the way.
