Roberts has said this on multiple occasions, and fellow bed-wetters (and Republicans) John Cronyn and Jeff Sessions have chimed in with similar phrases. Funny, I thought somehow we were supposed to believe that the war in Iraq is being fought to protect our freedoms. Isn't that what these folks were told?
If justice could be done, these Senators would be required to attend every GI funeral, and tell the grieving families why their sons and daughters should not have "died for freedom", or that they really died for oil or because Karl Rove needed a war to win some elections.
