He died in 1898 in Potomac, Middlefork Twp., Vermilion Co., IL. and was buried in Potomac Cem., Potomac, Vermilion Co., IL.
6. Nicholas Burger WYANT was born on 25 Jan 1841 in Union Twp, Carroll Co, OH. He died on 4 Jun 1906 in Mott, Hettinger Co., ND. He married Cathrine RUNYON "Cetha" on 23 Nov 1874 in Vermilion Co., IL. Their children - John W. 1875, James M., Sarah Jane 1877, Edward R. 1882, Truman Coe 1889, Mamie E. 1890 - are described in the fourth generation.
7. John Jeffrey WYANT was born on 5 Dec 1844 in Union Twp, Carroll Co, OH. He died on 22 Jul 1919 in Nr Newcastle, Daily Twp., Dixon Co., NE. and was buried in Newcastle Cemetery, Newcastle, IA. John enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 and served 3 years and 8 months in the Civil War as a private in Co. F, of the 66th Ohio Infantry. He was taken prisoner, 9 Jun 1862, at Battle of Port Republic, VA., and apparently exchanged, for he was wounded June 18, 1863 (during the Gettysburg, PA Campaign 11 Jun 1863 - 27 Jul 1863). Discharged: June 28, 1865. He married Nancy Anna POTTER, daughter of Rigdon POTTER and Margaret B. HUMPHREYS, on 8 May 1873 in Potomac, Middlefork Twp., Vermilion Co., IL. She was born on 25 Nov 1851 in Danville, Vermilion Co., IL. She died in 1933 in Laurel, NE. and was buried in Newcastle Cemetery, Newcastle, IA. Soon after the 1880 Census was taken, John and brothers Martin and Nicholas moved west to homestead in South Dakota.
