Dead Horse Point 2003

Dead Horse Point State Park is located about 25 miles southwest of Moab, UT. These photos were taken inside the park during our July, 2003 visit.

In the 1800s wild mustang herds were common in this area. The peninsula, 2000 feet above the Colorado River, was used to corral and capture them behind a 50 ft. fence at the neck of the formation. Once a herd of unwanted horses was left there, where they died of thirst.
