KEEP JUDGE TERESA BALLINGER WORKING HARD
FOR MARION
Dear Marion
Community,
I would like to share
with the Marion community how proud I am of the accomplishments of Municipal
Court Judge Teresa Ballinger.
I
first knew Ms. Ballinger in 1985, when she was a social studies and special
education teacher at Pleasant High School where I was superintendent. During
the 11 years as teacher at Pleasant, Ms. Ballinger touched the lives of over
1,600 students she taught and coached. Her patience, understanding and skills
are best exemplified by the success of the special needs students she
supported.
Ms.
Ballinger was a single parent of two sons, and taught full time at Pleasant
while attending Capital University Law School in the evenings for 3 1/2 years.
Her life’s lesson for students was that anything is possible if one is
willing to work hard to achieve one’s
goals.
Upon
passing the Bar Exam in 1994, I was able to grant Ms. Ballinger a two year leave
of absence from teaching when she opened a law practice. I wanted her to know
that her teaching skills and expertise were valuable resources to Pleasant High
School, and that she was welcome to return to the teaching ranks if her dreams
of being a legal professional did not reach her expectations. Unfortunately,
for students, Ms. Ballinger loved the practice of law and did not return to the
classroom.
As
a former resident of Marion County and former Superintendent of Pleasant Local
Schools, I am pleased to have had the opportunity to support Judge Ballinger as
she achieved her goal, and wish her continued success this November in her quest
to retain the Marion Municipal
Judgeship.
C. Richard
Arndt
Pleasant Superintendent
1985-1995
