Former Clerk Supports Ballinger for
Judge
After serving 25 years as the
Clerk of Court for the Municipal Court of Marion County (serving with four
judges from April 1980 through April 2005), I wish to relay to readers my
observations of Judge Teresa
Ballinger.
Upon Judge Ballinger
assuming the office last year, she did not make any drastic changes, but looked
toward improvements in court proceedings. She continues to maintain the tight
budget and has developed programs to save even more money. She is also providing
leadership for the staff and manages a very efficient and effective court. It
is my experience that she is open to ideas and suggestions, intently listening
all the while. The court staff has similar observations of
her.
In the courtroom, Judge
Ballinger has a deep concern for each individual who appears before her, whether
it is a first time traffic offender or a repeat criminal offender. It is obvious
that her background provides her with the wisdom and competence necessary to be
the excellent judge that she is.
Of
my many years serving in Municipal Court, I have come to know the attorneys and
prosecutors who appear in the courtroom for actual litigation. Before serving as
judge, I saw Teresa Ballinger actually practicing in Municipal Court and
appearing before the Judge on almost a daily basis. Of the two judicial
candidates, Judge Ballinger has the most experience and the judicial temperament
needed to be effective in Municipal
Court.
Due to my mother’s
health, my retirement decision was made long before Judge Ballinger took the
bench. I only wish I could have served with her
longer.
Please join me in the effort
to Keep Judge Ballinger as Municipal Court
Judge.
Linda M.
Bartley
