Dear
Editor,
,
In the midst of all this circulating political literature, I thought it would
be interesting to read some behind the scenes stories. My mother is Judge
Teresa Ballinger and she has been playing the role of a judge for a long time,
and I have been a victim of her practice and training. When I was younger I
accidentally took a bouncy ball from a toy store. My mother labeled this as
theft, sentenced me to return the ball and to verbally apologize to the store
manager. I also thought it would be a good idea to sign my name to a family
member’s truck bumper with magic marker. My mom labeled this crime as
destruction of private property. The sentence this time was manually scrubbing
my markings off and apologizing for my actions. My entire childhood consisted
of small sentencing and I would like to take partial credit for this well
rounded judge now serving Marion
County.
If you had to construct a judge
in our modern day, I have the best recipe. I would want the qualities of a
teacher, the compassion of a social worker, the drive of an entropronuer when
building her own law practice, and the experience of a mother. The Marion area
has benefited through all of her accomplishments, and now she is your judge. We
need to keep people like my mom among us, a woman with multiple skills and
points of views to ensure fair and just decisions are being made. I have been
on this amazing journey with her from when I was born to where she is today. It
is her dedication and perseverance that has made her the driving force in my
life. I visit her courtroom often to observe her duties and go out for lunch of
course. Teresa Ballinger has a well organized courtroom and a wonderful staff
which helps. It is important that we keep Judge Ballinger in her current
position, for it ensures that fairness prevails
undoubtedly.
