Note: Much of the information on Simon Modistach's parents and children comes from "Mlodystach: A Family History of Polish Pioneers" published 1985 by the Modistach Family Book Society. There are a number of spelling variations, including Modestach/Modistack/Modistach/Mlodystack/Modystack.

Rosslyn Whitcher, a member of the Mlodystach Book Committee, informs me that the L with a slash in Mlodystach (I haven't been able to reproduce it so far) is a Polish W sound - 'Mwoidistah'. I like that as I had trouble getting my tongue around the 'Ml' otherwise.

Occupation: Farmer (from marriage certificate of A.P. Haberecht and A.D. Martha Modestach). Shown as widower age 28 years on marriage certificate to Margaretha VALENT (aka WALLENT).

Officiating minister at marriage was August Ludwig Christian Kavel, residing at Klemzig. Witnesses were Friedrich Wilhelm PAECH and Gottfried BEHREND. Kavel is mentioned in W. Iwan: "Because of their beliefs: Emigration from Prussia to Australia." as being instrumental in bringing the Posen Lutherans out to Australia.

Iwan reports that Simon MODISDACH age 28 and his wife are included in the 39 Posen people from the Meseritz administrative district included in the Christianstadt emigration society of 1844.
