Currently. John lives in the historical Cathedral City of Exeter, UK, where he was born and has spent most of his life. It was here, whilst studying A-Levels at Exeter College, that John met his friend Dr Michael Williams (read his kind dedication in 'Ivor Novello: Screen Idol') and with whom he shares an enduring passion for the media in all its rich diversity. Together they collaborated on an Exeter College/BBC Radio Devon partnership. This included co-writing, recording and editing music and soap opera documentaries for 90MPH.

As a lifelong student of the creative arts and technology, many diverse and varied artists, working within the mediums of sound and vision, have influenced John's creative thoughts and processes. Notably James Cameron, David Fincher, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

During John's formative years the respected texts of Lewis Carroll, Shakespeare, J.R.R. Tolkien and H.G. Wells informed his thinking and writing.
