Back from Vacation!
What a great time!
The much needed vacation was a blast (who doesn't
need a vacation). The trip to Kennedy Meadows was spectacular, and the Mt.
Biking was awesome. I rode to Bald Mt. (elevation 9400 feet) and got hailed on
on. Things change fast at that altitude! The view was awesome, and I even
climbed the lookout tower at the top!
I also did some riding in Southern California chasing roadies on my full suspension Mt. bike. They seem even more surprised when I pass them on this thing instead of the bent. I will post some photos this week.
A lot has happened while I was gone, and I am not just talking about catching up at work. Fast Freddy broke the one hour record and one the Dempsey MacCready prize (congrats to Freddy!!!). From the Easy Racers site:

At approximately 6:20 am on July 2nd,
2006, 20 years after winning the Dupont prize, Fast Freddy Markham set his 20th
world record; winning the prestigious Dempsey - MacCready Hour Record Prize.
Fast Freddy covered a distance of 53.43 miles in one hour, bettering the
previous record by over 1 mile. Fast Freddy and the Easy Racers team received
the $18,000 prize for the fastest one hour in history. Over $40,000 was awarded
to the participants. It was a fantastic event and Fast Freddy proved to the
world that after more than 3 decades of racing heÕs still a world class
athlete.
The Handmade bicycle show at City Hall in Portland
was a hit. Bill Sties showed off his wonderful
trike.

And our Race Across Oregon team is shaping up
nicely. The crew and vehicles are ready, now we need to get on with racing!!!
This is going to be a great summer!
