About the Editor
(...who, for some reason, wrote the following in the "third person".)

Before getting into the "third person" style of writing about myself, it may be worth a mention that the somewhat embarrassing action of creating such a page, in the first place, was motivated by my repeated, personal experiences of browsing various websites on the internet and wondering to myself, WHO IS IT who actually was the originator of such a selected composite of information, opinions. commentaries, etc. - exactly what were the past qualifications of said person(s) - and what resulting credibility do I chose to accord to any or all of it?

I have come across so many websites which give a misleading impression that they represent some kind of significant, group opinion or ideology, by carrying such labels as societies, alliances, associations, coalitions, corporations, etc.   - while, by selective definition, it takes only one person to become any or all of these.

So, the purpose of this page is to be very much "up front" about the just mentioned considerations of credibility and qualifications, where THIS website is concerned.   Contributing editors of various sections of material on this site, who reside in various locations across the U.S., are given individual attributions at the points on this site where their input appears.   Otherwise, the material on this site more specifically reflects the editorial selection and judgement of this editor.   And, most simply stated (as further detailed below), this editor's primary qualifications probably stem from his life's primary employment experience as a professional, general assignment, news reporter - a career which requires certain abilities for developing a quickly learned degree of expertise in any one of such areas as medical practice (on one day), politics (on the next), zoology (on the next), and so on - with the added responsibility of converting all of the seemingly complicated jargon (which is attendant to each such area) into an essential factual form that is more easily understood by the general public.   This website, then, is my attempt to do just that, where WILD HORSES are concerned.

Final editorial decisions and expressions of some obviously personal opinions on this website are made and/or presented at the sole discretion of this site's owner, operator and managing editor, John Brian, now retired in Pennsylvania following a professional career that included nearly thirty years of producing, directing, writing, reporting and anchoring news and documentary programming for ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS network owned or affiliated TV stations in major U.S. markets, most noteably in Philadelphia and San Francisco during the late l960s, l970s and l980s.

Looking further back to 1963, following his receipt of a B.S. in Communications from Temple University in Philadelphia and a period of full time employment as a radio disc jockey and a radio and TV newswriter, John began what became four years of military service in the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security branch, ending with an honorable discharge with the rank of Captain and as a recipient of the Army Commedation Medal.  Among his military assignments, he served as Commanding Officer of the 508th USASA Detachment in Uijongbu, Korea and as Chief of the Briefings Office for the Commanding General, United States Army Security Agency at its worldwide headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.

(Probably the main reason I put in all the above stuff about military service, was to provide an instant, auto-response to any big mouthed, Rush Limbaugh types who might have been saying, "Well, this guy's obviously one of those radical-liberal tree hugging weenies, who has no idea what its like to be patriotic and serve our country."  And, I actually have very mixed, personal feelings about my overall military experience.)

In San Francisco-1970s

Following his military discharge, in 1967, John resumed his broadcasting career of what mainly became on-camera work, beginning as an evening news anchorperson in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, extending through the above mentioned years of mainly news and documentary broadcasting work and concluding with the establishment of his own TV video production company.  Having married only once, while in the military, he later became a "divorced widower". when his 38 year old former wife died of cancer in 1979.   Since that time, he has remained quite content with a lifestyle of what some might call "a loner".

In such circumstances, there was an atmosphere that somehow seemed to foster a good deal of personal reflection and revaluation of the civilized advancements during the times of his own "baby boomer" era and those of previous generations.    This led to his first involvement with U,S, Wild Horse Preservation in 2004 and to subsequent, broadening concerns about mankind's self centered destruction of natural ecology, worldwide.

Presently, all of his "at home" family members are four legged and include two horses.  Having loved and ridden horses since about age 7, he has been the sole trainer and provider for his family's own equine "brothers", since 1972.  (Born in November of 1941 he gradually, over the years, came to dislike the popular image of being a horse "owner", considering horses to be more like his brothers and sisters in this world, who are their own mutually respectful and coexisting spirits, none of whom are "OWNED" by ANYONE.   Much of the same philopsophy is reflected in John's feelings about various wildlife animals, whom he likewise considers to be his brothers and sisters on our planet.)
