Site Sections  SELECTOR WHEEL

On all of Planet Earth "ALL THINGS ARE CONNECTED".  The air, water, land and the planet's life

forms, each effects all of the others in a steady, ongoing, circular process of natural evolution.

This concept is one that is well represented by the traditional Medicine Wheels of many nations of

the native American Plains Indians.

This website's modified version of the medicine wheel is intended to represent a similar, endless circle

of connections in our consideration of NATURAL HORSE ECOLOGY where, once again,

"all things are connected", in the natural circle of life.

Before exploring other parts of this website you may wish to scroll down further on this page, for more information about the concept of the medicine wheel.

Also, if it may be of interest to you, before "visiting" any of the site sections, you may wish to visit the "WHY AND ABOUT THIS SITE" page, for an overview on that topic, as well as information about the site's Editor (by clicking on the underlined text link in this paragraph).

If you happen to make some kind of differention of meanings between the words, 'connected' and 'interconnected', you may wish to note that the editor of this website recognizes no such actual differention in various writings, sometimes using them interchangeably.

For the possible interest of those who consider themselves to be experienced horse owners and handlers, some of this information is quite specific, in regard to such things as horse turnout, health and hoof care.  It is meant to be presented in a good spirited belief that ALL OF US, no matter how experienced, still are just learning about the continually evolving and complex natural world and world of horses.  And, this information is presented in the belief that lessons learned from horses often can be invaluable for the continued welfare and very survival of the people of all nations of the world, as well.  So, much of the material on this website also is an attempt to relate to those people whose only apparent connection to horses may be little more than an appreciation of the beauty, spirit of freedom and overall goodness that they have come to represent.

A true and thoughful basic understanding of horses requires some knowledge and consideration of their still existing connections to both the remaining natural wilderness on the planet and their adaptation to the opposing forces of an increasingly unnatural, manmade civilized world.   Deadly pollution of our planet mainly is the result of civilization's inept and wanton destruction of unmanaged wild areas and their once ecologically balanced natural systems for producing pure air and water, which systems have relied on a delicate balance of wildlife that has included wild horses.

Whenever you hear some government representative or employee claim to be involved in MANAGING for the health of wildlife or a wilderness area, you are hearing a perpetuation of one of GOVERNMENT'S BIG LIES.  Only by government's corporately inspired and falsified redefinitions for its related, inept and destructive activies are the terms, MANAGED WILDERNESS and MANAGED WILDLIFE, anything more than deliberately deceptive oxymorons.  True wilderness areas and wildlife are SELF-managed by nature, basically free from any significant, large scale type of human intrusion which, invariably, has and will upset the essential and life sustaining natural balance of ecology.

The statements in the above three paragraphs actually have hit upon issues in ALL FOUR of the main topics that appear on this website's "Site Sections Selector Wheel, above.  Attempting to organize, into a meaningful perspective, a sometimes seemingly endless amount of oft times diverse information that deals with these essentially connected topics, has resulted in this site's use of this modification of the traditional American Indian medicine.  Hopefully, you will find it to be an easily understood, graphic representation, that is helpful in "connecting the dots" of natural ecology.

The following may provide a further insight into how the contents of this website relate to and coincide with the wheel's representation of the aforementioned concept of natural interconnections.

Starting at the top of this wheel and moving clockwise around the circle, Natural Evolution results in a  platform for natural ecology. which is dependent upon the preservation of a harmonious balance of nature, of which Wild Horses have played an essential, mutually supportive role that routinely is overlooked by civilization's scientists and other humans.  Were this to have been given respectful consideration in the development of mankind's Civilization and Politics there would have been more thoughful development of civilized standards for breeding and other aspects of Living with Horses who are kept in captivity as domesticated animals.  In such a hypothetical example, there would have been more of a mutually supportive endless cycling of both natural and man-made developments on this wheel, with harmony between these parts of the natural and civilized worlds.

Instead, there has been a natural tendency for each of these four points on the wheel to become the adversarial opposite of the point that is located on the opposite site of the wheel from it.  And, given the continued careless and unthoughtful development and intrusions against nature by most modern civilizations, what has become a very unnatural evolution now heads, with ever increasing speed, to the brink of virtual extinction of wild horses, humans and other species of life on earth.

EPILOGUE:

A very much connected element in all of this is a relative quality known as freedom.  Inevitably, in the cycle that is portrayed on this wheel, there has been a steady, worldwide decline in the freedom of most natural lifeforms to exist in a self determined, naturally evolving lifestyle.  This condition sometimes is referred to on this website as "manufactured evolution".  And, it clearly has been determined that mankind's existence on the planet is not very long sustainable by way of manufactured evolution and some kind of simulated replacement for actual wilderness, that somehow is maintained artificially on what many delusionary and ill informed corporate and political types envision as some kind of "Spaceship Earth" of the future. Those who believe otherwise are misguided people who may think that certain humans are some kind of gods.  Such a delusionary concept ultimately is doomed, as are the fools who enable and promote it.

Please note that, with its modified titles at its four, main quadrants, the drawing on this page is NOT inteded to be an authentic American Indian medicine wheel.  It is out of great respect and admiration of many parts of the traditional American Indian cultures and societies, that a modification of such a wheel has been decided upon to represent the central theme of this website.

The actual, traditional medicine wheels, with their representations denoting numerous and essential qualities of very deeply spiritual and personal significance, carried a circular, central theme, shared and supported as the already noted and essential philosophy on this website, which is that in all of life on earth, ALL THINGS ARE CONNECTED.
