Our so called Bypass Trail also is L-shaped, around the sides of a woodsy hill, and includes a fairly steep section that extends downhill from the Twin Gates, and a perpendicular, fairly long section that gradually widens to become effectively a part of the Front Pasture. It enables the horses and llamas to go back and forth, at will, between that pasture and the barn area, while bypassing both a naturally thick and entangled woodsy area and the house. Not only does it eliminate the previous need to hand-lead each of the animals from the barn and down the driveway, for entrance into the Back Pasture, but it encourages their more frequesnt, regular, natural and energetic MOVEMENT in their year round 24/7 turnout. Our animals DO NOT mainly just stand around eating in basically one place in turnout, as is argued by so many 24/7 turnout detractors. And they sometimes become quite creative in the various movement "games" that they create for themselves. On this particular occasion, Bart the black "alpha" horse already has pulled off to the left at his location fathest down the hill, very deliberately deciding to allow to two llamas to pass on ahead, toward the pasture.
