Pasture

Probably the biggest problem with our L-shaped pasture is that the hill in the section shown, which extends downward from our twin-gates configuration, is prone to very hazardous winter icing. This is due to a combination of two factors, one of them being that shaded areas from the adjoining woodsy section result in slower melting of any ice that forms on this pasture's main hill. Additionally, water from snow and ice that may melt during the warmer hours of daytime, tends to channeled from the barn paddock area, through the entranceway and onto the top of this pasture.  And, it only takes a few repetitions of this process for a solid and very hazardous ice covering to extend down from the top, so as to cover most of this hillside.  It's an occasional condition which results in our closing the entrance gate for this pasture to keep out the horses and llamas.
