Travelling to Athens - 06/14/04

The plane ride over is very cold. Long pants and a light jacket were a big help to me. It isn't like the ride to Sydney but it does take awhile. Be sure to bring something to do. I did some sleeping and that helped to change my body clock around after I got here too.

Getting through the Athens airport was pretty easy. However luggage carts cost 1 Euro. The cart machine doesn't take anything but Euros. There is no ATM machine and the cash exchange machine wouldn't take my new style $20. So either bring a Euro or an older style US bill. Otherwise you'll have to drag your luggage like I did. Hey look at stupid American!!!

One oddity was, when I arrived on May 16th there was no Customs. You just walked out the Customs door to an area where everyone waits for their friends and passengers. I did get my passport stamped in Milan during my layover. The wait there wasn't to bad either. There were only 3 or 4 people in front of me.
