On Wednesday, February 26, 2003, Pack 531 held
our Blue And Gold banquet for 2003. The Blue and Gold is a celebration
of Cub Scouting’s birthday, and we looked back on a year full of adventure
and achievement. But, after 27 years, this was destined to be Pack
531’s last meeting, as our now small pack was unable to identify leaders
for next year.

The celebration of our ceremonies
was made very special by Mike Schaffer from Boy Scout Pack 583.
Mike and two of the scouts from this great troop added a mountain man
flavor to our ceremonies. Mike also told us about recreations of
the mountain man era that are put on by the South Platte Valley Historical
Society.
We recognized our Tiger Cubs, for
having taken the first steps along the Scouting trail.
Our Wolf Cubs were rewarded their
Wolf rank badges, and looked back on a great year of Scouting.
Our Bear Den each received their
Bear rank awards, and celebrated a terrific year of fun and achievement.
One of our second year Webelos was
awarded his Webelo badge.
The remaining four of our second
year Webelos each received their Arrow Of Light. This is Cub Scouting’s
highest award. In a moving ceremony, Mike explained the significance
of this great achievement. Each of the boys was given the Arrow Of Light
patch. The Arrow Of Light and the religious award are is the only
Cub Scout Badges which may be worn on a Boy Scout uniform.
Each boy also received a symbolic
arrow decorated to celebrate every one of his achievements over his years
as a Cub Scout.
All five of our second year Webelos
crossed over to Boy Scouts. Three of our fine young men joined Troop
667. We have a few photos and stories
of their adventures in Troop 667.
Our remaining two Webelos joined
Troop 342.
The pack kindly gave Debbie and
Joe a gift in recognition of their leadership over the years.
We had drawings for some great door
prizes.
And we ate a bunch of pizza.
