An Emotional Week
I had just seen my Aunt Shirley and Uncle Phil in March. I used to play for a softball team out of the Detroit area, and still get up there a couple of times a year. March is the annual Hall Of Fame Banquet in Sterling Heights, and I have many teammates and friends who are either already inducted, getting inducted, or will be in the future, so I always try to attend. So the day after the banquet last March, I made the 20 minute trip and spent a couple hours visiting. I'm glad I did.
I talked to a couple of friends to let them know I was going to be in town for a few days. It turned out that one of them (Chuck) was turning 50, and his wife was planning a party for him Thursday night at the park where we played. Thankfully, everyone agreed to stay an extra day, and I was able to attend the party and see so many friends that I now only get to see a couple times a year. A bittersweet ending to an emotional week.
I have no idea as I write this if my show was aired on Wednesday. In any case, it is now available for download or podcast. Here's the playlist:

EDIT: I'm still attempting to make podcasts automatically downloadable via RSS (I'm not having much luck). Let me know whether or not this works, in the meantime I'll keep the download link as well. When it does, next step is iTunes, and world domination
EDIT #2: OK, got it figured out. If you use a news aggregator, you can subscribe to this feed by clicking the RSS link or the XML button in the sidebar. The XML button is the preferred method. You can then download podcasts automatically. The link will still appear in these posts for those who want to d/l it the old fashioned way. I submitted the podcast to iTunes, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Tonight's show, and a new beginning
Just a reminder, this blog is available as an RSS feed. For those of you who use Firefox (and you really should), click the orange icon in the lower right corner of your browser and subscribe to the feed. It will then appear in your Bookmarks menu. You can also subscribe using any RSS-capable newsreader. My plan is to embed the podcast in this page so it can be automatically downloaded with the feed. The next revision of my page building software will support this function. I also intend to try and get my podcast listed on iTunes, this would be really cool! I'll keep you informed.

Listening to "Pink Floyd at Live 8"
Choose your cliche...

Hell freezes over. Pigs can fly. Etc. etc. All I
know is that the reunion of Waters, Wright,
Mason, and Gilmour was one of the most magical
moments in music history. As a Floyd fan, the
anticipation level was high, but my expectation
level remained realistic, after all, it had been
24 years and they only decided to do Live 8 in
the past month. Man did they sound great! Like
they never stopped touring. Roger looked like he
was having the time of his life. Dave flashed a
couple of those classic Gilmour grins. Also nice
was seeing ONLY Nick on drums and ONLY Rick on
keys. Roger dedicating Wish You Were Here to Syd
Barrett... the entire 24 minutes was such a high.
I guess you know what I'll be playing on
Wednesday's show.
To the producers of VH-1; as Roger said in "The
Wall" - GET 'EM UP AGAINST THE WALL! They should
all be shot. Breaking away mid-Comfortably Numb,
just before
the greatest guitar solo of all
time
so their 2 on-screen dopes could blab, what a
joke. I'm surprised they even showed any Live 8
coverage as it was. God forbid they miss out on
another chance to rerun an episode of The Surreal
Life. Assholes...
