Space art sites

IAAA (International Association of Astronomical Artists)
A cool club for the airbrush-slinging, toothbrush-flicking guys and gals who are devoted to the art of Rocks and Balls.

Novaspace Galleries

A haven for fans of space art and a resource for artists, which also happens to carry one or two pieces of mine from time to time.
Cosmic Cafe and Outer Space Art Gallery
Web site operated by Gary Greenberg, featuring various space artists, posters, techniques, and other matters of possible interest.

Macintosh

Apple
Apple's site contains the Apple Store and the expectable support and information resources.

Macintouch

The premier source of daily Mac news, good, bad, and indifferent.

MacSurfer's Headline News

Daily compendium of various Mac-related stories and news items.

Astronomy sites

IDA (International Dark-Sky Association)
Have you seen the Milky Way from your home lately? If not, it's probably because of all the wasted city light that floods the sky and drowns out the stars. The IDA tries to stem the tide and bring the stars back into our lives.
Morehead Planetarium
I used to work at this venerable Chapel Hill, NC institution. I still do freelance artwork for Morehead from time to time.

Astro-Physics

AP offers some of the most excellent astronomy equipment available in the world. Unfortunately, to buy it you need both patience and a lot of money. Many people find the scopes and mounts to be well worth both.

Todd Gross's Astronomy & Weather Site

Todd Gross is a former TV weatherman (and a minor character in the movie "The Perfect Storm"). The man was also an indefatigable collector and reviewer of amateur telescopes, although his efforts seem to have petered out.
Cloudy Nights
Another telescope review site, probably the most active one recently.

Clear Sky Clock Homepage

Attila Danko, Allan Rahill, and Environment Canada combine to bring you handy graphical predictors of local sky conditions.
Cosmic Voyage
Bill Ferris's excellent resource for amateur astronomers, listing observations of many deep-sky objects. It's an AOL "Hometown" page, so you have to look at AOL's ubiquitous ads, but nobody's perfect.
Ed Ting's Telescope Review Web Site

Amateur astronomers submit evaluations of their latest toys. This site has become inactive, but still contains useful information.
Robert Burnham Jr.
Tony Ortega's well-written article about Robert Burnham Jr., author of the famous Burnham's Celestial Handbook. Burnham was a very talented man who died in obscurity and poverty. His visionary book is a refuge from the weight of the world. His exalted descriptions of the splendors of the heavens help put our woes in their proper perspective. It is bitterly ironic that Burnham himself was ultimately destroyed by the blind cruelties of our society, and by his own blind spots and personality failings. Reading this article is sobering, especially when you can see more than a little of yourself in him.
Robert Burnham Jr. Memorial Project
Speaking of RBJ, there's a movement afoot to get him a memorial at Lowell Observatory. I am honored to be involved.
Sungazer.net

Greg Piepol's site for solar astronomy using high-end amateur hydrogen alpha equipment.

ASTROMART

Very useful site combining classified ads for used astro equipment, articles, reviews, and forums.

Becky Coretti

Becky is a Florida amateur astronomer and weather buff whose new web site is sprouting features the way her telescope's shroud sprouts coloful appliques.

Artist sites

Poppet Planet

Lisa Snellings-Clark is a well-known sculptor and illustrator whose work combines the cute and the creepy in a way all her own. Poppet Planet is her new online community for artists, which includes forums and other resources. Give it a look.
Carla Ulbrich
Carla is a musician and songwriter who sings her extremely funny songs while accompanying herself on a deftly-played guitar. Go see her perform if she comes anywhere near you.

Carl Kocich

Artist Carl Kocich is an old buddy of mine who does a variety of nice landscapes, fantasy paintings, portraits, and other sorts of work.

Glass Nebula

Joy Day uses the unusual technique of reverse glass painting and is also a scuptor and costume maker.
Origami Boulder
Artist offers exquisitely tasteful convoluted-paper sculpture for truly reasonable prices.
Art from the Soul
Julie Rodriguez Jones makes mysterious images of auroras and other space subjects.
Lynn Perkins
Lynn's mermaids, space scenes, and assorted fantasy images would look nice on your wall.
DixPix

Photography by Dick Bower, who, like me, appreciates the gentle beauties of upstate New York.

Sites of humor

The Onion
Wickedly funny mock news magazine with a bleakly cynical  slant.

"I Just Want to Be Friends"

Painfully on-the-mark site describing, as if through some kind of telepathic invasion of my privacy, a couple of the more ghastly episodes of my "love life". Ow ow ow ow ow.

Seanbaby.com

This site mocks bad comic books. It is the kind of thing that causes me to fall out of my chair, while my helpless laughter convinces my neighbors I'm having some kind of a psychotic episode.
2amGirl
The wit, words, and wisdom of the ineffable, inimitable Jenni, whose bright yet mordant gaze is occasionally turned upon herself and upon the world at large. Though sadly neglected, I have hopes that this writer will someday resume her efforts.
Making Fiends
Cheer on the indefatigable Charlotte in her quest to change the dark heart of the misguided Vendetta! Yippeeeee!
