Space Station Freedom

Ronald Reagan's call for a U.S. space station led to this initial design, which over a period of years was pared down to a smaller, less capable version before the entire project was scrapped after spending billions of dollars to develop and launch zero hardware. Eventually the project morphed into the current International Space Station which may or may not someday actually accomplish something worthwhile.
