The Fell Winter

This blizzard represents the Fell Winter, mentioned in The Lord of the Rings. It was the only winter in memory in which the Brandywine River froze over, permitting white wolves to cross and invade the Shire. You can barely see a cloaked hobbit keeping watch for the maruaders. This was a gouache painting.
