Jessica Knapp was born and raised near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received a Bachelors of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts from Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA, followed by a year of post-baccalaureate study at Virginia Commonwealth University. She received her Masters of Fine Arts degree in ceramics at the University of Colorado at Boulder in December 2003. From 2004 to 2006, she was a volunteer studio technician and artist in residence at San Diego State University. She is currently working at the Ceramic Center Berlin, funded by a German Chancellor Scholarship awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
