Once upon a time there was Manila Express. It was the tool that drove my early weblogging experience. Once installed, you could highlight text on a web page and then right click (Windows) or click a bookmark (Mac) and have a formatted snippet that was perfect for posting. Like this: Manila Express: "Manila Express makes adding links to your Manila weblog as easy as 1-2-3." Manila Express dependend on MSIE 5. With the move to MSIE 6, it was broken and was never maintained. Besides, you needed to have a Manila site to use it, even though it could be used with any posting system. At one time, I had a reasonable facsimile up and running in AppleScript, but I lost it in my upgrade to my current PowerBook. Restoring Manila Express service seems to be a good way to start using AppleScript a bit more and make use of my other tools (Tinderbox, Blosxom) more automated. Next: First Steps |
