Political Compass

Hmmm. Intriguing and flawed

Ok, so I took the quiz at PolitcalCompass.org. I'd like to know what you all think of it. Others have mentioned it in their blogs (Teal Sunglasses)

Some of the questions are flawed. For instance, they ask if you disagree or agree (add strong variants to get four choices) with a variety of statements. One of the statements is:
Religion and morality are closely linked.

Well, duh. The statement should read: "Religion and ethics and closely linked." As i understand it, morality is closely linked to religion whereas ethics is more secular. But that's an oversimplification. Ethics is more about the logic and the why of how you *should* react. Morality is more about what you believe and what you do.

You could feel that it is Ethically incorrect to drive you car faster than the speed limit, but in practice, your Morality could allow you to waver and go above by some amount.

Of course, it's been a few years since I was hip-deep in this stuff, so I should re-examine it all. :-)

Anyway, my ratings are:
Economic Left/Right: -6.12
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.49

Which plunks me down in the Libertarian Left.

I'd love to hear where some of you fall on the graph.
