Or, how my car is happier now.
Passed 90,000 miles on my lovely Jetta.
But, here's a recent
iChat conversation I had with my mom (Mom is in
Bold):
AIM IM
with Kate Hoover Calfee <********>.
9:33 AM
Good
Morning.Morning Mom
I know you are busy this
week.What car trouble?ah....
My alternator
failed
9:35 AM
Ouch!we got in my car on Sunday night to
go to the Los Altos Festival of Lights...
it took two tries to start. but
it had been sitting for a week and I figured that was the problem
but it
was also making a funny whine
then we got to Rod's for dinner and it sat
for a couple of hours.
I assume you replaced it.It took two
tries again there and my clock reset.

I'm not there
yet.

So off we
go to Los Altos. ta da! Parade! lights! hot cocoa!
we get to the Johnson's
car first and they bundle up and are off.
My car is dead when we get to
it.
Oh No!I put 1+1 together and figure out that it's probably
the alternator.
AAA to the rescue. A quick jump and we're off.
But
it was Sunday night. Not too much of a problem, it seems to be that
once it's going it will be fine. We have jumper cables at home, so no
problem!
Unless it is pouring. The next morning I show Devin
how to jump Start a car.
9:40 AM
Good thinking.nah, it
didn't start raining until last night
My plan is to drive Devin to school
and then drive to a car shop near my work (mountian view train station has a
shuttle to Apple!)
Only I get to a light on Mission street in Santa Cruz
and the car dies....
HmmDevin helps me push the car into a
service station on that corner. And I write a note for Devin and send him off to
walk (4 blocks)
AAA to the rescue!
An adventure you didn't need on
Monday morning.towed the car this time to "Old Volks Home" where they
worked on it
I didn't get to work until 5PM
I spent the day working
from a Starbucks in Capitola.
