Also, if you want to take your picture at the spot where the Kinks posed for the Muswell Hillbillies album - the one where they are standing on an island, in the middle of the road by a sign to Muswell Hill, this is off to the northwest of our section of the Archway map. It is the corner of Southwood Lane and Kingsley Gdns, according to Peter. Up Highgate Hill, then Highgate High Street, then right into Southwood Lane. Hikers of a robust constitution may want to walk on to Ken Wood, the location of the VGPS and Kinda Kinks (Marble Arch re-release) cover photos. This is part of Hampstead Heath, the well-known gay meeting area. Up Highgate Hill, then Highgate High Street. Left into Highgate West Hill, right into Merton Lane, then follow the footpath past Highgate ponds and bear right to Ken Wood.
