Thunder, Lightening and a Bike ride

I rode in this morning under very dark clouds and
to the sound of rumbling thunder.
I had an 8:30 meeting and I got up very late, raced
through my morning protocol ;-) and out the door just as the rain stopped. Ena
needed the car so I was dedicated to a bike commute (which is fine... usually).
The rain had stopped but there were very dark clouds laying low over the town.
As I climbed to the top of the fly-over (the bike path goes over the Beltline),
I saw a bright jagged bolt of lightening straight ahead. I had a momentary
thought, up there on the fly-over, with the chain link fence roof to keep
jumpers and tossers contained, on my CroMolly steel mountain bike, well above
the trees and cars - that maybe I should get down off the bridge in a
hurry.
The ride in was uneventful though very cool - dark dark dark clouds and lightening and the smell of fresh summer rain and an almost empty bike path the last of the Summer flowers cool air and the hiss of bike tires on wet pavement. A fun ride in without any "hair raising" lightening.
