iChat AV in the Enterprise

My boss is in Japan for a conference. He needs to be present for a presentation this Friday. We hope to bridge the Pacific Ocean with iChat AV.

The first time we tried this, we had firewalls in the way. Firewalls are a good thing. I run a firewall at home to keep nasties off the network. Firewalls and NAT are a great first line defense against hackers and crackers. They are also a major impediment to new internet technology. It has taken a while to find all the right people who need to open ports on the various routers and switches that lie between the conference center and UW-Madison border.

Will this work? Will we have success? Will iChat AV save us a ton-o-money on our long distance bill?

Stay tuned. I let you know Friday evening.
