SUVs more dangerous than cars

A new study is out that shows that SUVs are more dangerous than cars and the gap is growing. The study states that people in an SUV are 11 percent more likely to die in an accident than people in cars. Given that over 42,643 people were killed in auto accidents last year, it seems that SUV and Highway Safety should garner 14 times more attention than the attacks of 9/11 .

Freer's Fire Fries Finery - Flagged for fines.

In the plenty of stupid category, there is a high-qualifier for the category that has been in the news.

Joseph Freer, 23 year old worker at the Oakdale Mall Champs Sporting Goods store, made a bad choice of weapons for fighting spiders. Seems Mr. Freer sprayed a flammable substance on a spider. He then set the spider on fire. HA! Take that you nasty little spider.

My Mistake - I take full responsibility

To the cyclist I hit (on my bike) this morning on the South West Bike Path - I'm very sorry. It was my mistake. I'm glad we both stayed up and neither one of us were hurt. I know better. I cycled in criterions and never went down. I know my responsibilities when I'm drafting. You were very nice and very reasonable. It was the friendliest collision I've ever been in as a matter of fact.

I had just pulled into your draft. You were riding a beautiful smooth straight line down the center stripe. I was actually just admiring your easy spin and your absolute straight line. I was in close because I had just caught up to you. I was looking around you for obstacles and objects but your body screened me from seeing the squirrel. I was daydreaming a little bit, out on my bar ends not in on my break levers. Like I said, I was admiring your spin and straight line. Then you braked and I ran up your back left side. I did swerve out. You put out and arm to catch me though I got out of my cleats and onto my brakes fast enough. We both stayed up and kept riding. You must cycle in packs often. Your response was great - hold your line, get an arm out to protect yourself and your bar ends (from getting hung up), keep your pace.

Steal One - Get One for FREE.

There was a very funny article in this morning's paper. In Janesville, WI a thief stole a device that the owner had left outside. By the time the owner called the police, the device had already called into the jail and was happily reporting its position.
