The new new leftLast night on TV Ontario's The Agenda the topic
was The
State of the Left. The show opened with Euston Manifesto co-author
Shalom Lappin. The guest panelists included Buzz Hargrove of the Canadian
Autoworkers, Laurie Adkin, an associate professor of Political Science at the
University of Alberta, Corvin Russell, a writer at rabble.ca and Morton
Weinfeld, McGill sociology prof and Euston
signatory.
The video archive is here. Audio podcasts of the interview and debate are here. Thanks to Robert G. for the heads
up.
Update: The non Eustonite panelists made Morton's point for him with their casual dismissal of the suggestion that we should defend the gains made by the women of Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban. They flatly denied that any improvement has taken place. In contrast Lauryn Oates in today's Globe contrasts the grim situation today with the horror women faced before.
