Shevardnadze resigns


Protesters bring down government

The news came at 11:30 this morning. Eduard Shevardnadze has resigned as President of Georgia. Tens of thousands of protesters have been in the streets of Tbilisi, angry over the rigging of recent elections. When soldiers from the army and the national guard joined them Shevardnadze gave up his claim to office.
