Hezbollah billboard taken down

The Windsor billboard featuring the leader of Hezbollah was taken down this morning, according to local CBC radio news.

This morning's Windsor Star has another interview on the front page with the backers of the sign. They claim to represent over 700 individuals and admit their intention was to honour Hezbollah fighters.

The Lebanese Canadian Coordinating Council issued a statement today strongly condemning the billboard for promoting terrorism.

The council is made up of the Canadian Lebanese Human Rights Federation, (CLHRF), Canadian Lebanese Free Patriotic Movement (FPM-Canada), Phoenician Club of Mississauga (PCOM), Canadian Phoenician Community Services Club (CPCSC), Canadian Lebanese Christian Heritage Club (CLCHC), and the World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU)-Canadian Chapter.

This afternoon the Windsor Star's website confirmed the pro-Hezbollah billboard has been replaced with an advertisement for a car dealership.
