Reset

My iPod shuffle stopped working a few months ago. Pushing play would cause the lights to flash but no music. And there was no way I could fix the problem through iTunes. This had happened before and the last time a nice young man at the Apple Store across the border said it was a known problem and gave me a new one in exchange.

This time, before I could arrange a trip to Michigan, Apple announced new even cooler shuffles to be had in October. So I decided to wait and ask for the second generation version. The new shuffles still aren't shipping but today Apple made available a utility that reset my iPod in a few seconds, restoring it to full functionality. Anyway I'm happy I've got my music back, even if the device is no longer state of the art.

But my joy cannot compare to that of Scott Adams, the cartoonist who draws Dilbert. He lost his voice last year and was told it was never coming back. This week though, he discovered how to reset his brain.

Read his story at the Dilbert Blog.

Good News Day.

While you are there, check out his essay on Quitting Iraq.
