Lighthouse Cove

Although the post office believes I live in Belle River the provincial and municipal authorities insist I am a resident of the amalgamated town of Lakeshore, incorporated in 1999. Lakeshore includes a huge chunk of Essex County, 530 square kilometres, almost 4.5 times the size of Windsor with one seventh the population.

While the northern boundary is Lake St. Clair, most of Lakeshore is actually farmland, some of the most productive agricultural land in the world. Scattered about are 18 former towns and hamlets, from Puce to Pleasant Park. Yesterday Rick and Isabelle joined me for brunch in Lighthouse Cove, at the mouth of the Thames River.

The old.

The new.

The restaurant.

The view.

The traffic.

The entertainment.

The lookout.

The sign.

The driftwood. No relation to Nessie.
