Blog rollingupdating my site(s)
I've added a blog roll to the blog sidebar. So
far it just lists some of my favourite web logs and sites. It's a small sample
of what's on my newsreader, which currently
has 89 subscriptions, and my browser, which has several
dozen bookmarks that I check
regularly.
Favourite doesn't mean endorsed. There are several topics and points of view represented. Some of the authors take strong exception to the work or ideas presented by others in the list. What they have in common is that I look forward to reading them. I trust these writers to keep me informed of matters that interest me, more so than I do most of the journalists in the news media whom I also read or listen to. I've made a couple of cosmetic changes to the layout of the blog as well, as I work my way through Eric Meyer's Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide. I finally got rid of the hard to read link colours and fixed the vertical spacing of the listings on the main page. I'm also experimenting with mirroring the site on my Sympatico web space. This used to be the online home of Bewick Editions, published by my mentor in marxism, Marty Glaberman. Marty died on December 17, 2001 and the inventory of Bewick/ed was sold to the Charles H. Kerr Publishing Company in Chicago. I took the old site down a year or so ago. I don't think Marty would have agreed with my support of the war in Iraq but I sure wish he were still around so we could debate the issue. Update: The mirror site on Sympatico isn't practical. Whenever I make a change to the sidebar it takes almost an hour to update. So I've left a simple referral page instead. The difference, I guess, is that Sympatico relies on FTP while .Mac uses WebDAV. Posted: Sat - January 1, 2005 at 03:30 PM |
