The Lynching of Louie SamTerry Glavin
Last month I got an email from BC writer Terry Glavin,
congratulating me on joining the Drink-soaked
Trots (to which I've yet to come up with a second post.) Terry himself
had just been showcased
on Normblog's Writer's
Choice series.
This morning, listening to CBC radio's The Current I heard an interview with Terry about the lynching of a 14 year old boy on Canadian soil. Here's how he begins the story on his own blog:
The murder which sparked the lynching was probably committed by the leader of the mob. Read the rest and Terry's article in the Winnipeg Free Press as well. There is also a documentary, The Lynching of Louie Sam, that played an important role in getting the two legislatures to act. Will told me I'd make new friends as a popinjay. It was great to hear Terry's voice. Update: More from Terry on yesterday's events here. Posted: Wed - March 1, 2006 at 08:18 PM |
