Snow
I'm going to need another shovel. My cheap
plastic one has lost its edge, as I've scraped my way across the sidewalks,
stairs, porches and drive ways of our ever expanding corner lot.
Luc's added a basement apartment to the triplex,
and is thinking of adding another. Doug and Maureen bought a house of their own
in November, and Doug was our snow guy. He was kind enough to come back and give
me a few pointers the day we hit 30
centimetres.
So far I've enjoyed the
challenge, and despite several three hour sessions, have managed to avoid
injury. Gained a couple of pounds though. This morning's snowfall took less than
a hour to clean up, but I may go back out with a broom if the wind keeps
gusting.
Eddie of course, has a snow
blower, even though he has a small house with minimal pavement. His neighbours
love him, especially since he's got lots of time now, what with the lay-offs.
Jo-Ann is just happy to see him get out of the house. She and Mom are used to
having the place to themselves during the day.
All three are doing quite well. After
another set of tests and scans it looks like Jo-Ann's lung cancer hasn't
progressed at all since the spring. Still no need for more treatment. Mom just
celebrated her first Christmas in 54 years, with lights, a tree, presents under,
and dinner. And her great grand-children built her a snowman in the front
yard.
So now I'm the only member of the
family who doesn't celebrate Christmas at home. Unless you count shoveling the
walk.
