RealID is dangerous to the freedoms of citizensDo we really want a National ID card? Will it make
finding 'terrorists' easier? or just make it easier to hassle dissenting
voices?
If you agree with me, visit UnRealID.com and send a fax expressing your opposition to your senators. Read on to see the fax I sent to Senators Levin and Stabenow: Dear
Senator,
I'm generally proud of the way you represent me. I'm asking for your help yet again: The RealID is a VERY BAD IDEA, and I urge you in the strongest possible terms to oppose it in any and all forms. Changing our way of life in reaction to nebulous terrorist 'threats' means giving in, throwing in the towel. Real freedom in America means freedom of movement, unfettered by arbitrary or unreasonable search and seizure by government. We are at a critical juncture in the history of the Republic. Thomas Jefferson worked extremely hard to prevent 'tyranny of the majority' by splitting the power of government into the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches. He did not forsee that gaining power of all three branches could be possible. Will we be able to heal the union, as happened at the time of the Civil War? Or will we continue to polarize, grow more corrupt, spoiling friendships and inspiring enemies? Do we choose the fate of tyrannical empires that have fallen before us? Imperial Japan? Nazi Germany? Rome? I see RealID and its ilk as grains of sand -- as each falls, the time we have to fight against tyranny from within grows shorter. Please, trust your instincts. Fight for freedom. Fight for justice. Fight for 'the American Way'. Before it's gone... This goes to a vote May 10 (tomorrow!). ACT NOW Posted: Mon - May 9, 2005 at 09:43 PM |
