Waiting for the next shoe to drop


As the election drew near, and it became obvious that a majority of people in our country were blinded (by their faith?) to the abuses, crimes and atrocities done by and in the name of the United States, I withdrew from political activity. I felt that things were so bad, so self evident, that no amount of activism would be enough to force their heads out of the sand. Unfortunately, I was right.

I don't regret that decision. I think it's a big part of the reason I can discuss the election calmly and reflect on the next step, instead of wallowing in depressive episodes.

OK. So what IS next? Will Bush II finally implode in a Nixonian display of arrogance and inattention to detail? Or will civil liberties continue to degrade until we end up living like Will Smith in the film Enemy of the State?
