Waiting for the next shoe to dropAs the election drew near, and it became obvious
that a majority of people in our country were blinded (by their faith?) to the
abuses, crimes and atrocities done by and in the name of the United States, I
withdrew from political activity. I felt that things were so bad, so self
evident, that no amount of activism would be enough to force their heads out of
the sand. Unfortunately, I was right.
I don't regret that decision. I think it's a big
part of the reason I can discuss the election calmly and reflect on the next
step, instead of wallowing in depressive
episodes.
OK. So what IS next? Will Bush II finally implode in a Nixonian display of arrogance and inattention to detail? Or will civil liberties continue to degrade until we end up living like Will Smith in the film Enemy of the State? Posted: Mon - November 8, 2004 at 05:01 PM |
