Day 6: Kingman to Seligman -- 90 miles
Don, Anurang, Brian, and I had a pretty good pace line going in the morning. We stopped at mileage marker 66, though, because the route card said it was a photo spot.
First stop of the day was the Hackberry General Store, where Anurang contemplated trading in his Rivendell for something even sportier.

The men's room at the Hackberry General Store has lots of reading material conveniently at hand -- mostly technical manuals.

The second stop of the day was Truxton, where we ate pie. I didn't take any pictures there, though, so you'll have to settle for this dinosaur at our lunch stop -- Grand Canyon Caverns. Nobody went into the Caverns, but the ravioli was popular.

After 25 miles of raging cross winds, we ended up in the wonderful town of Seligman (rhymes with Heligman). Angel Delgadillo, the town barber, and his brother Juan, are largely responsible for getting Route 66 desigated as "historic." Juan operates the Snow Cap ice cream stand with his tongue very much in cheek. Here he is offering Lon an "ice cream." You had to be there. Lon is holding a Bott Dot that he wants Juan to autograph. For his collection. Of Bott Dots. It's a road thing.

A rare picture of me drafting Anurang.

I didn't get to meet Angel this afternoon, but I did see his barbering diploma. He has a Web site where you can read more about him.

The Snow Cap has interesting rest rooms, too. Including TV sets.

My room at the Route 66 Motel. You have no idea how cool I think this is (unless you're Randall, maybe).

Brian and Anurang's room. No comment.
